Polishing concrete meets green standards. It not only reduces energy costs it also reduces material waste when an existing concrete flooring is polished.
Polished concrete meets today’s high green demand. Polished concrete’s light reflectivity brightens areas and thermal mass properties both lead to reduced energy costs. There is also a significant reduction in raw materials vs. other flooring options. The breathability of polished concrete eliminates the need for costly moisture barriers. Polished concrete also requires no additional raw material and has no end-use costs of replacement materials or disposal of old flooring. This all leads to increased LEEDs points for your projects.
Of course when you are selecting a hard surface for your facility, there are many product choices that you can examine and compare to the various criteria that are important to you for various areas in your facility. Many of these criteria may cause you to chose a product other than polished concrete and if you do, CTS can help you select that right product and show you options that you may not be aware of because of our strong relationships with virtually everyone of the major manufacturers of these products. However, if the cost of ownership over the entire life of the floor is important to you, the cost per square foot per year for Polished Concrete is substantially lower than other choices. That cost is calculated by including the initial cost of the product, including the cost to install it, the cost to maintain it over 20 years and for sheet vinyl and VCT the cost to replace the original floor when it has to be replaced. When all of these factors are taken into consideration, the cost per square foot for polished concrete is substantially lower than the aletrnatives at $.45 per square foot per year.
There are many advantages in polishing concrete. The reflectivity and the ability to use colors in the design of the floor can provide an aesthetically pleasing floor. Polished concrete floors are 21% more impact resistant and 400% more abrasion resistant than regular concrete. If properly maintained these floors can last substantially longer than 20 years and the cost of that maintenance is substantially lower than VCT which has to be stripped and waxed on a regular basis. Maintenance consists of mopping daily with a clean mop and water, and regularly polishing with inexpensive burnishing pads. This is estimated to cost approximately $.25 on an annual basis, significantly lower than other flooring options.
CTS Polishing has put together a comprehensive product offering to ensure that your concrete floors can be polished anywhere in the United States on a consistent, quality basis.
The first part is our ability to staff your projects with trained craftsmen no matter where your project is located. CTS Polishing’s own crews will do many of these jobs but when your roll out program has multiple projects going on around the country, CTS can use crews that are trained the same way we were and will use the same machines, diamond tooling and chemicals as we would to complete your job. CTS Polishing will manage the project and will be responsible for your overall satisfaction with the job.
The second part of this comprehensive program is the adoption of the Ultraflor system. The patent pending diamond technology allows the Ultraflor process to be completed in fewer steps without compromising the effectiveness of the mechanical polishing of the concrete or the luster of the reflectivity that you have chosen. This translates into a cost competitive process to polish your concrete floors. The system uses a lithium-based densifier that penetrates more deeply into the concrete than other densifiers to enhance the durability of the floor. The floor is then sealed with a lithium-based floor sealer that is burnished with high speed micropolishers outfitted with diamond impregnated pads to provide an extra level of protection.
The last leg of the program is providing you with an ongoing maintenance regime. Since the Ultraflor system also includes the steps you need to take to maintain that floor on a regular basis, it ensures that your polished concrete floor will retain not only its initial beauty but also its abrasion and stain resistant finish for 20 or more years.
All of these together make CTS Polishing the easy choice to polish your concrete floors, no matter if it’s one project or you have a number of projects across the country. And since CTS Polishing is a division of CTS Flooring, we can handle all of your flooring needs from carpet to vinyl to polished concrete.
